| Jeanine Von Essen shows us what the holiday season is all about. |
If you missed it, check out some of the recent discussions about why there is a need to promote balloons and how to go about changing the public's percetion of balloons as a poor man's decor.
Early discussions focused on the idea of a major ad campaign, and the corresponding need for a large source of funding. A more reasonable approach might be to merely do what we all do best. Create amazing decor and make every effort to ensure that it is visible to the public. Two of the other December BHQ Columns review recent projects with this type of goal. Or, maybe we should all be walking around with balloon mustaches. It worked for the milk producers and dairy farmers.
If your directory entry has not been modified in more than six months, you will receive a reminder notice that you must either make updates or acknowledge that your current information is correct. This is not phony mail trying to get your password. This is to ensure that the directory stays up to date and continues to be useful.
There have been fake email messages, unfortunately, which have gone out pretending to have originated from Balloon HQ. There are a few ways to verify that the mail you have received is legitimate. All email has more "header" information than just the subject of the message and the sender. Most email programs try to be useful and hide a lot of the extras from you, unless you specifically ask to see it. The "From:" line on your email may say it came from someone@balloonhq.com. But if you examine the extra information, you may see that the note actually originated somewhere else. For example, following is a few of the usually hidden header lines from spam I received just a moment ago as I was typing this.

Notice that the address in the "From:" line shows dwp.net as the originating computer, but that address does not appear in the "Received" lines. Any administrative mail you receive from us will show balloonhq.com in the "Received" lines.
Another check is to click on a link in email that takes you to a BHQ login
page. When you see the login page in your web browsers, look at the
location bar in your browser. If the location does not start with
http://www.balloonhq.com/ or
https://www.balloonhq.com/, do not type your BHQ password.
