Witch on a Broom Hat

Supplies needed: one black 321, two black 260s, two lime green 260s, one mocha brown 260, one goldenrod 160, and one whatever color 260 you’d like the hat base to be.

Inflate one green 260 leaving about a 6 inch tail. Make a soft 4 inch bubble, 1 inch pinch twist and small 4 inch or so loop twist. Follow it with two 4 inch bubbles for eyes. Leave the remainder green balloon intact for now.

Inflate the black 321 leaving a small tail, set aside for a moment.

Inflate one black 260 leaving about a 4 inch tail and make a 1 inch pinch twist. Twist around the green pinch twist in the neck. Make a 4 inch bubble, and 1 inch pinch twist. Make a 9 inch loop twist and another 4 inch bubble and twist into neck. Make one more 1 inch pinch twist to complete the neck.

Take the 321 black and squeeze air into the uninflated tip. Tie the nozzle into the neck pinch twists. Make a 4 inch bubble and twist into the top pinch twist. Take the black pinch twist on the top of the hat and tuck in between the eyes to attach the face to the hat. Break off the remaining green balloon tie off, and set aside for the hands.

Carefully tuck a bit of the 321 into the loop in the hat to shape the hat. It should look like this.

Inflate the second black 260 and tie to the end of the first 260. With whatever you have left of the first 260, make two equal bubbles for arms and twist knot around neck.

Make a 4 inch bubble for the body, a 1 inch pinch twist, 4 inch loop twist and 6 inch loop twist.

Make another 4 inch bubble and twist into neck. Slightly tuck the bottom 4 inch bubble into the 6 inch loop twist like so.

Inflate the second green 260 leaving about a 6 inch tail or so. Make a 3 inch bubble followed by a 1 inch pinch twist and another 4 inch bubble. Twist into the skirt part of the witch. Make another 4 inch bubble, 1 inch pinch twist and 3 inch bubble. Tie ends together to complete legs and cut off remaining balloon.

For hands : Take your scrap piece of green and make a 1 inch pinch twist, 1/2 inch pinch twist and 1 inch pinch twist. Tie and cut any remaining balloon. Twist into the arms.

For feet: Take a scrap of black and inflate enough to make a 2 inch bubble, 1 inch pinch twist and another 2 inch bubble. Twist into end of legs.

For eyes: Take a scrap of black 160, make two 1/2 inch pinch twists and a 1/2 in or so bubble. Tie off and remove excess. Tuck the bubble in between eyes and adjust the pinch twists.

Make a broom using the mocha 260. Inflate leaving 3 or 4 inch tail. Make three 1 inch pinch twists and adjust . I use a 160 goldenrod for the broom bristles. Attach to Mocha 260. Position broom handle between legs and gently push top of handle into hands. For Hat: Inflate whatever color 260 you’d like leaving a 3 inch tail. Tie the nozzle into the pinch twist on the feet. Make a 3 inch bubble and 1 inch pinch twist. Make a loop around head to size, and twist together. I then make a pinch twist on the other side of loop. (See picture.) Tuck the pinch twist into end of broom bristle to attach.
