Braided Fabrics

Braided fabrics have a diagonal surface effect. They are made by plaiting
three or more yarns that originate from a single location and lie parallel
before the interlacing occurs. The yarns intercross from one side to the
other, resulting in a column of horizontal “V”s. Narrow braids can be
joined together to form wide fabrics or large articles such as carpets.
They are either made in flat rectangular or in circular formations.

…All braided fabrics have considerable stretch in the length and some in
the width….

Fabrics made by braiding are not limited to yarn forms. Cut strips of
fabric, leaves, leather, straw, or any other flexible product can be
braided to create attractive and distinctive fabrics.
