Cobra
by Ralph Dewey
The Balloon HQ challenge this month is to make a snake.
This time I’ll be showing you how to make a fairly simple yet menacing cobra snake using only two balloons and a black marker.
Mouth
Fully inflate a green #260 except for 2.5 inches and tie off the nozzle. Insert the knot from an uninflated red #260 into the knot of the green balloon and make a 1.5 inch apple twist.
Head
Twist off a 10.5″ bubble from the green balloon and twist-connect the ends to form a loop. Push some of the remaining balloon up into the loop as shown to form the hood and head of the cobra. Curve and shape the body into an “S” shape.
Tongue
Cut off all except about 2 inches of the red balloon and save the extera. Trim the red balloon sticking out of the apple twist so that it looks like a forked tongue.
Eyes
Make two 1″ eye bubbles from the remaining red balloon. Tie the ends together as shown. Push the eye bubbles up into their proper position on the head as shown. I put the knots toward the front yet out of sight.
Markings
Mark the eyes, head and neck as shown with a black permanent marker.
