I do like Dewey's owl, and I usually make it with pop-twist feet, but it does rely rather heavily on marker work to look good. (This was a general negative comment on Dewey's stuff made by twisters at IBAC). I normally wouldn't mention this fact, but (I can't believe I'm saying this...) I seem to have a new appreciation for speed twisted animals that need no marking up. For 5 hours straight I helped about a dozen sculptors twist for the multitudes of visitors on the final day of IBAC. With all those people waiting, there just wasn't time to make what I have always considered to be completed, showpiece figures. As an aside, I was talking to an incredibly talented balloon artist about this issue afterwards and he said to me, as if speaking to a customer: "Sure I'll make you an animal for a dollar, but if you ask me to make a dog, it'll cost you $2 because you're insulting me!" Anyhow I am digressing. All I really wanted to say that since I have seen Marvin Hardy's impressive owl (found in The 260Q Decorator), I'll probably be making it in the future (but with pop-twist feet). Thanks for the reviews Simon, they'll go in the FAQ. To everyone else, you can now find a listing of all the animals in (most of) the Dewey books in the book section of the "guide to ballooning" on the Web page. Mark o _/ \_
